Ex CSKA Moscow Star Chidera Ejuke Backs Kelechi Iheanacho Amid Sevilla Exit Talks
Former CSKA Moscow winger, Chidera Ejuke, has expressed his support for his Sevilla and Super Eagles teammate, Kelechi Iheanacho, amidst ongoing exit rumors. According to Soccerbaba.com, Ejuke believes that Iheanacho can overcome his current struggles and turn his fortunes around at the Spanish La Liga club.
Both Nigerian players joined Sevilla last summer, with Ejuke quickly adapting and winning the club’s Player of the Month award for September. In contrast, Iheanacho has faced challenges, including limited playing time and a lack of goals, leading to speculation about a potential January transfer.
Adaptation Challenges at New Clubs
Ejuke, who recently recovered from a severe hamstring injury, highlighted the difficulties players face when adapting to new environments. “When you get to a new place you have to get used to everything – the style of football, your teammates, culture, atmosphere. But I’m happy,” said Ejuke in an interview with el Correo.
Iheanacho’s Confidence Issues
Addressing Iheanacho’s struggles, Ejuke acknowledged that the former Leicester City striker is currently low on confidence. However, he remains optimistic about Iheanacho’s potential to succeed at Sevilla. “I think as a player you obviously need confidence. Sometimes it doesn’t happen right away, but it’s all a matter of confidence. When you get the confidence, you get going,” Ejuke added.

Ejuke’s Return from Injury
Ejuke spent 81 days recovering from a high-grade hamstring tear sustained during Sevilla’s 5-1 loss to Barcelona in October. He is now working towards regaining full fitness, having played the final eight minutes in Sevilla’s recent 2-1 victory over Girona. “I am ready. I feel good and I’m excited to be back. I hope everything goes well game after game,” Ejuke shared.
Sevilla’s Current Standing
Sevilla are currently positioned 11th in the La Liga table, just four points adrift of the UEFA Europa League spots. Ejuke emphasized the importance of recovering from injuries and contributing positively to the team. “Injuries are part of the game. You need to focus on recovering properly and coming back stronger to help the team,” he concluded.
