Chelsea Agree £4.2m Loan Transfer for Renato Veiga to Juventus

Chelsea have reportedly agreed to loan out Renato Veiga to Juventus for the remainder of the season. The 21-year-old midfielder, who joined the Blues from Basel in the summer for £11.8m (€14m), has found it challenging to secure a spot in Enzo Maresca’s Premier League starting lineup.

Veiga has managed only seven Premier League appearances since his arrival at Stamford Bridge, contributing two goals and one assist in 18 games across all competitions. His sole Premier League start came against Bournemouth in September, and he has yet to play top-flight minutes in 2025. Notably, Veiga was absent from the squad for Chelsea’s recent 3-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, another club reportedly interested in his permanent transfer.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea and Juventus have now reached an agreement for Veiga’s loan move. Juventus will pay Chelsea £4.2m (€5m) for the loan, with no option or obligation to make the transfer permanent. Veiga is expected to return to Chelsea in time for their Club World Cup campaign this summer.

Veiga might be the first senior player to leave Chelsea this month, but he is unlikely to be the last. Left-back Ben Chilwell is also anticipated to depart after being sidelined from the squad. Juventus and Lazio are both rumored to be potential destinations for other Chelsea players.

In a related development, Manchester City have shown interest in Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso, who might replace Kyle Walker, expected to join AC Milan. However, Veiga’s loan move to Juventus is not likely to affect City’s pursuit of Cambiaso, as Juventus plans to use Veiga as a centre-back, covering for the injured Bremer. Juventus continues to search for a new left-back, with links to Ben Chilwell and Feyenoord’s David Hancko.
