Man United to Make New Proposal for 20-Year-Old Patrick Dorgu After £22.8m Rejection
Manchester United Football Club is ready Make New Proposal for Patrick Dorgu After initial £22.8m Rejection.
Manchester United are gearing up to make a renewed bid for Lecce’s promising left-back, Patrick Dorgu, following the rejection of their initial £22.8m (€27m) offer. Despite the setback, the Red Devils remain undeterred in their pursuit of the 20-year-old talent.
Lecce swiftly turned down Man United’s first bid, citing it fell short of their financial expectations. However, there are growing concerns within Old Trafford that Serie A giants Napoli might attempt to hijack the deal, especially after their interest in United’s Alejandro Garnacho.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that United are poised to present an improved offer for Dorgu. Although this new bid is also expected to fall short of Lecce’s €40m (£33.8m) valuation, there is optimism that a compromise can be reached.
Dorgu, who joined Lecce from Nordsjaelland on an initial loan in 2022 before securing a permanent move for just £169k, has impressed with five goals and two assists in 56 appearances. His stellar performance earned him a senior debut for Denmark, where he scored against Switzerland in September.

The 6ft 1in defender’s versatility makes him a valuable asset for Man United. He has effectively played as a left-back, left wing-back, and right-winger this season. United’s need for reinforcements on the left is critical, given Luke Shaw’s injury woes and Tyrell Malacia’s recovery from a serious knee injury.
Manager Ruben Amorim has often had to deploy Diogo Dalot or Noussair Mazraoui on the left, despite their preference for the right side. Dorgu’s arrival would provide a much-needed solution and also bolster the team’s attacking options, especially with Antony’s move to Real Betis and Marcus Rashford’s potential departure.
While United continue to chase Dorgu, their efforts to sign Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich have reportedly hit a roadblock. Nevertheless, the club remains hopeful of securing Dorgu to strengthen their squad this season.
