Cristiano Ronaldo could be set for a sensational move that might reunite him with Real Madrid — but not in the way fans might expect. According to recent reports, the legendary forward has received a surprising offer from Al-Hilal, one of Saudi Arabia’s biggest clubs, ahead of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

The 40-year-old icon, widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, has netted an astonishing 936 goals and provided 257 assists across 1,729 matches in his club and international career.

Ronaldo, who joined Al-Nassr in January 2023 after parting ways with Manchester United, has enjoyed prolific form in the Saudi Pro League. In just 111 appearances for Al-Nassr, the Portuguese star has scored 99 goals, including 35 goals in 41 matches in the most recent season.

However, speculation surrounding his future intensified after Ronaldo posted a cryptic message on Instagram, stating:
“This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all.”

Al-Hilal Eyes Ronaldo Ahead of 2025 Club World Cup

Renowned football journalist Santi Aouna has reported that Al-Hilal has submitted a formal contract offer to Ronaldo. Although Al-Nassr remains keen to retain their talisman with a new deal, sources suggest that Ronaldo is seriously considering a switch to Al-Hilal, the team that finished second in the 2024–25 Saudi Pro League.

Al-Hilal will participate in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, and a high-stakes showdown against European giants Real Madrid is already on the calendar. The club’s opening match is scheduled for June 18 against the Spanish heavyweights, followed by fixtures against Red Bull Salzburg and Pachuca.

Ronaldo’s possible inclusion in Al-Hilal’s squad for the tournament could set the stage for an emotional reunion with Real Madrid — the club where he scored 450 goals between 2009 and 2018 and became their all-time leading scorer.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino added fuel to the speculation, stating:
“Ronaldo might play for one of the teams as well at the Club World Cup. There are discussions with some clubs. So, if any club is watching and is interested in hiring Ronaldo for the Club World Cup… who knows?”

Ronaldo Set to Face Germany in UEFA Nations League

While his club future remains uncertain, Ronaldo continues to feature for the Portuguese national team. He has been named in the squad for the UEFA Nations League semi-final against Germany, scheduled for June 4.

Although minor fitness concerns had cast doubt over his participation, Portugal head coach Roberto Martínez confirmed his availability:
“Regarding Cristiano’s fitness, he is available to play. There’s no problem. I feel very happy with the quality that we have in the squad.”

Ronaldo has earned 219 caps and scored 136 goals for Portugal, and he remains committed to representing his country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
