Red Devils Hit by Injury Woes as Victor Lindelof Limps Off in EFL Cup Quarterfinal.
Manchester United suffered another injury setback as center-back Victor Lindelof was forced off during the first half of their EFL Cup quarterfinal against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night.
The Swedish defender, stepping in for Matthijs de Ligt—who missed the match due to illness—earned a rare start in Manchester United’s defense at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, Lindelof’s time on the pitch was cut short, as he appeared to sustain a muscular issue shortly before halftime in North London.
This marks another frustrating chapter in the 30-year-old’s injury-plagued season. He has already been sidelined twice this campaign, first with a toe injury at the start of the season and later with a groin problem picked up during international duty in November.

Thursday’s appearance was only Lindelof’s ninth of the season. With Sunday’s Premier League fixture against Bournemouth on the horizon, it seems doubtful that the defender will recover in time to feature.
Jonny Evans came on as Lindelof’s replacement, even though Harry Maguire was also available on the bench.
Lindelof, who has made 268 appearances for Manchester United in all competitions, is in the final year of his contract and is expected to depart the club as a free agent at the end of the season.
As the Red Devils assess the extent of Lindelof’s injury, fans will be hoping this latest blow does not further derail their already challenging campaign.
