Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has remained tight-lipped about the possibility of signing a new central midfielder before the transfer window closes.
Despite speculation surrounding Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, Amorim insisted he’s “really happy” with his current midfield options.
Baleba Deal Complicated
Baleba is reportedly Manchester United’s top target in the midfield department, but a deal is proving complicated due to Brighton’s asking price of around £100m.
The Seagulls’ manager, Fabian Hurzeler, has expressed confidence in keeping Baleba, stating he’s “very, very confident” the midfielder will stay.
Amorim’s Comments
When asked about potential midfield additions, Amorim emphasized his satisfaction with the current squad, saying, “I’m really happy with our players, they are working really well, and we have players in that position.”
He also highlighted the versatility of his midfield options, including Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, and Casemiro.
Fernandes’ Position
Amorim clarified that Fernandes will operate in central midfield, leveraging his creativity and goal-scoring ability.

“I want Bruno near the ball, which is really important for our team,” he said.
Other Targets
With Toby Collyer set to leave on loan to West Bromwich Albion, Manchester United’s need for a midfield reinforcement is strengthened.
Other potential targets include Athletic Bilbao’s Mikel Jauregizar, Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton, Sporting Lisbon’s Morten Hjulmand, and Atalanta BC’s Ederson.
Attack Bolstered
Manchester United have already bolstered their attack with the signings of Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo.
Now, the focus shifts to midfield, where Amorim aims to make a strategic addition to complete his squad.
